The owners of pit bull terriers will soon be able to bring the dogs to public places in the city of Yakima. The Yakima City Council on Tuesday voted 5-2 in favor of an ordinance that repeals the city pit bull ban that's been in place for more than 30 years. Council members Holly Cousens and Kay Funk voted no. The dogs will be legally allowed in the city beginning Sept. 23.
It was the first time since 2016 that the council voted in favor of repealing the ban. Two previous attempts failed to gain the needed votes for passage.
