Yakima City Councilwoman Carmen Mendez says she regrets and is sorry for her recent arrest on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Mendez spoke Monday morning on News Talk KIT, saying she's ready to face whatever happens in the case and has no plans to resign.
Yakima Police say Mendez was driving drunk when she crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of South 16th Avenue and Tieton Drive on April 16. She was not injured, but several people in the other vehicle reported minor injuries. Mendez pledged to never let it happen again.
