The Yakima City Council approved a resolution that allows the city to seek a $500,000 state grant to help purchase 52 acres of land on the former mill site for a future soccer complex. The money would come from the recreation and conservation office.  Councilwoman Maureen Adkinson was absent Tuesday and the council delayed a decision on the car tab issue until she could attend. The council is considering a measure for the November ballot that would ask voters to increase car tabs $20 to pay for city-street repairs.
