Yakima Attorney Sentenced On Theft Charges
Yakima attorney Kim Grijalva faced a judge Monday for sentencing on theft charges. Judge Brian Altman refused to sentence Grijalva to any additional jail time saying he felt obligated to treat her like any other citizen convicted of a first offense. In April, Grijalva was found guilty of theft for allowing her roommate to talk freely with jail inmates through an unsecured phone line. Since her conviction, Grijalva has had her law license suspended and has release all her clients to other lawyers. The judge sentenced the attorney to 60 days community service. He also ordered the attorney to pay restitution of 22 hundred dollars.
