It was not a random shooting. That from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office talking about the early Saturday shooting that took the life of a 35-year-old woman.
The Yakima County Coroner has identified the woman shot dead early Saturday as she was a passenger in a vehicle on I-82 just north of Selah as 35-year-old Maria Elena Luna-Corona. She was found in a car in a parking lot on Firing Center Road at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Yakima County Sheriff's Detectives say the shooting was not random and that someone in another car pulled along side the vehicle and fired shots killing Luna-Corona.
Coroner Jim Curtice says she was identified through her fingerprints.
An autopsy is set for Wednesday. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
