Eastbound I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass will reopen Wednesday afternoon but Westbound I-90 will remain closed all day according to officials with the Department of Transportation. They have an extensive plan on moving Eastbound traffic Wednesday afternoon. The DOT says at 4:00 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be released in groups of several hundred vehicles. The vehicles will be driving at a reduced speed with 15 minutes of separation between the groups.

Officials say 53 inches of snow fell on Snoqualmie Pass over a two day period. They say the reason for the closure is because of avalanche danger, visibility issues and severe weather conditions.
