Voters in Yakima will have a chance to vote on a change of county government in the November general election. On Tuesday county elections officials certified the home rule issue for the ballot after checking the required petition signatures. The home rule would replace the current 3 person county commission with a larger county council. If the home rule issue is approved then a new county charter would be created and put up for a vote in a different election. An article in today's Yakima Herald Republic says the commissioners must still approve the measure for the ballot.
