Have you ever given blood before? Did you know that every two seconds in the United States someone needs blood? Due to weather in the winter there are many blood drives that are cancelled, so the need for blood right now nationwide is a serious issue.

I know that if you have had a tattoo you need to wait at least six months before giving blood and if you have been outside the country there might also be some restrictions but honestly if you are a healthy individual who can deal being poked with a needle this is the kind of donation that doesn't cost you anything AND you probably will get hooked-up with a cookie and juice when you are done! :) Score!

Virginia Mason Memorial will be hosting their blood drive on Friday August 31st from 12:30pm-5:30pm in Classrooms A and B on the lower level of the hospital, 2811 Tieton Drive. Eligible blood donors are people ages 17 and older who weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. Donating blood can save a life, or even several if your blood is separated into its components — red cells, platelets and plasma — which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.

Donating blood is a quick and simple way to give back to the community. Donors will also receive a free refillable water bottle.

To schedule an appointment, please contact Kevin Embree at 509-575-8030.

Hope to see you there!
