(Updated) Union Gospel Mission Trying To Prevent COVID-19 Outbreak
COVID-19 test results on a person thought to have the virus at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission have come back negative. Mission Director Mike Johnson also says a homeless person with the virus is no longer contagious so she's no longer in quarantine.
The Director of the Yakima Union Gospel Mission is still waiting on test results on a potential case of COVID-19. That person along with another person who has the virus are both self quarantined in housing at the mission. Director Mike Johnson says he's glad that both have agreed to stay at the mission and not walk around city streets possibly contaminating others. Johnson is working to contain any cases to prevent an outbreak in the homeless population which he says are very vulnerable.
He says they're screening testing people for signs of the virus but so far only one case has been confirmed and they're waiting on test results of one other person at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.
