The city of Union Gap is improving streets and sidewalks near the Valley Mall in preparation for new businesses. A stretch of Washington Avenue will get a new layer of asphalt and more than a dozen sidewalks in the area will be brought up to ADA code. The city will also add two new bus stops to the corner of 14th and 18th Street. All of that construction will happen near the locations of the new Cabelas and JC Penney stores. Union Gap says both businesses are expected to open October 1.
