Union Gap Firefighters Want Chief to Stay

Union Gap Fire Chief Bill Steel was fired by the Mayor Jim Lemon last week. But last night 10 volunteer firefighters urged the City Council to rehire Steel saying they believe in him and don't agree with the reason behind his termination. Lemon says Steel was fired for decisions he's made in the fire department. Regardless of the push to keep Steel the city is moving forward in finding his replacement. Union Gap Police Chief Robert Almeida has been named the interim chief until a new chief is hired for the Union Gap Fire Department.
