The tourism season is underway in the Yakima Valley a big part of the local economy says John Cooper President and CEO of Yakima Valley Tourism. He says every year tourists spend upwards of $370 million many coming to the valley for sunshine and fruit. "People travel to the area for farm fresh experiences as well as wine and craft beverages and just to get some outdoor recreation."
And while Memorial weekend kicks off the official tourism season Cooper says Yakima won't see a wave of visitors until after school is out later this month then he says visitors flood the valley until late September.
