Toppenish Gang Member Sentenced To Long Prison Term

A Toppenish gang member will never be released from prison after being sentenced in Yakima County Superior court Thursday to more than 90 years on a second degree murder charge. Authorities say 22 year old Fabian Arrendondo was convicted in thhe 2009 shooting death of Ladislado Avila in Toppenish. Prosecutors say he wasn't the shooter. They say he egged on the shooter and showed him how to turn off the safety on the gun. Arrendondo was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Michael McCarthy who took advantage of enhanced sentencing approved by the legislature 3 years ago for gang related crimes.
