Thousands of people acted like a big earthquake hit the state of Washington Thursday morning during the annual Drop, Cover and Hold Earthquake Drill. Immediately after hearing from the state's Emergency Broadcast System people all over the state took part in the drill. State Emergency Managers credit the increase in those wanting to drop, cover and hold this year to a New Yorker Magazine article about earthquakes that scared a lot of people this summer. The article talked about a large earthquake off the coast of Washington that could cause a lot of death and destruction. When the big one hits, experts recommend dropping to the ground, taking cover under a desk or table and holding on to something sturdy for at least 60 seconds.
