Did you vote in the Primary Election? The Yakima County Auditor’s Office has certified the results of the 2017 Primary Election, meaning the final count of returns has been completed and the results are now official. The top two vote getters in each race now move on to the November 7th General Election.
Three seats on the Yakima City Council are up for election during this year’s General Election. A news release from the Yakima city officials shows the final results.
"In Yakima City Council District 2, Pablo Gonzalez finished with 35.18% of the vote and Jason White compiled 23.37% of the Primary Election vote to advance to the General Election. Avina Gutiérrez received 20.72% of the vote and Maud Scott garnered 20.48%.
In Yakima City Council District 4, Keith Effler (26.88%) and Kay Funk (24.04%) will meet in the November 7th General Election. Chelsea Mack received 19.87% of the vote, Tony Sandoval got 12.19%, Sandra Belzer finished with 11.35%, and Williams compiled at total of 5.09% of the vote.
In Yakima City Council District 6, Brad Hill and Macaela Razo move on to the General Election. Hill finished with 73.32% of the vote compared to Razo’s 14.54%. Joe Mann received 12.04% of the vote, though he had withdrawn from the District 6 race. Mann withdrew after the deadline to have his name removed from the Primary Election ballot had passed."
Ballots for the November 7th General Election will begin to be sent to registered voters on October 20th.
