Move over terminator…the machines failed to win this battle!  Leading us to as--When is a convenience not a convenience?  Perhaps when 65% of customers not only say “no thanks” but also “No-Way!”  In an online poll, only 35% of Albertson Supermarket customers say they love automated checkout, while the remaining 65% said they hate them or use them only when they have to

And Albertson’s is listening so the chain is eliminating those automated "self-checkout" lanes from all 100 of its stores that have them, and will replace them with human beings.

An Albertson’s spokeswoman say they want the opportunity to talk directly to customers more often.

Meanwhile competitor Kroger, America’s biggest grocery chain, is experimenting with removing automated checkouts in Texas.   The human touch seems to be part of the preferred way for most of us to get our groceries.
