Today is an important day in baseball history.  In fact some people say that 43 years ago, on this day, April 25, 1976, Chicago Cubs' outfielder Rick Monday became a national hero when he made "the greatest play in baseball history."

Think about it.  Baseball is America's national pastime.  The flag is often said to represent baseball, hotdogs, mom and apple pie.  It's the essence of Americana, so when in 1976, Chicago Cubs' outfielder Rick Monday took away an American flag from two clowns who were about to set it on fire on the field at Dodger Stadium, it made a baseball memory for a lifetime.
