The Yakima County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who says he accidentally shot his wife as 25-year-old Cory Lindblom. His wife is 27-year-old Mckaylee Higgs. She remains in critical but stable condition at a Yakima hospital.

The shooting happened early Friday morning in the couples’ bedroom at their home in Terrace Heights. Lindblom told investigators he thought his wife was an intruder. He has been cooperating with detectives as the investigation continues today.

Yakima County Prosecutor Jim Hagarty says he will meet with the lead deputy to find out what evidence has been collected whether charges will be filed in the case. Authorities say Lindblom told them he heard someone inside the couples' bedroom early last Friday morning when he awoke and fired a shot thinking it was an intruder. It turned out to be his wife.
