Teenager Dies at Mission Ridge

The Chelan County sheriff says a 17-year-old boy has been fatally injured in a skiing accident at the Mission Ridge ski area.

Sheriff Brian Burnett said the Chelan teen was skiing Friday with a friend when the friend saw him lose control, leave a ski run and plunge down an embankment, ending up among some trees.

The Mission Ridge ski patrol responded and moved the boy to the ski area's first aid station. He was taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, where he later died.

The teen was not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.

Mission Ridge is south of Wenatchee.
