Daylight saving time will officially begin at 2:00 am on Sunday, March 10.

While you're changing clocks the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office wants you to check your smoke alarms that could save your life in a fire.

the American Red Cross helped 23 people affected by four home fires in Yakima County within the last week. Three of those fires happened in Yakima City, the fourth in Union Gap.

The National Fire Protection Association says lots of things increase the risk of fire during the holidays including heating, decorations, winter storms and candles.

Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, in hallways outside bedrooms, and on every floor of the home, including basements. Large homes may need extra smoke alarms.
