Sunnyside Man Dies In Two Vehicle Crash

An 86-year-old man from Sunnyside died in a two car crash in the Sunnyside area on Sunday. Yakima County Sheriff's deputies say the crash happened at about 2:15 p.m.at the intersection of Waneta Road and Stover Road. Deputies say 86-year-old, Gilbert Mohr, of Sunnyside was driving westbound on Stover Rd. Authorities say he failed to stop at the stop sign on Stover Rd at Waneta Rd.  Mohr’s vehicle was struck by a 2016, F350 Ford pickup, which was traveling southbound on Waneta Road.  Both vehicles left the southwest side of the roadway.

Mohr was transported to a local hospital where he died.  The driver of the pickup was also transported to a local hospital for apparent minor injuries.  Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in this case.
