The City of Sunnyside is getting closer to their 2013 budget after Thursday night's public meeting. No official decisions were made, but there was a lot of negotiating.

A poll showed council is not in favor of cutting the deputy police chief. Council is in favor of a utility tax increase between 6 and 18 percent.  Firefighters are willing to forgo cost of living expense increases.

Council says they need to make up about $1.7 million through higher revenue and cuts.

The next meeting is scheduled for December 27.
