Even though Christmas is over social service organizations in Yakima continue to help the needy. Lisa Sargent at the Yakima Salvation Army says they serve hundreds of people into the new year at their food bank located at 9 South 6th Avenue. "We are always in need of extra food. Non-perishable food and fruits and vegetables." Other services offered include rental and power assistance, clothing and furniture. But Sargent says it all depends upon donations from the community.
