If you drive in the City of Yakima you're more likely to get into an accident. Final numbers from Yakima police show there were more than 2,200 car accidents last year in yakima. Not only is that 80 more crashes than in 2009, but a quarter of those accidents ended with someone getting injured. Police tell our news partner KIMA Action News the most common denominator is cell phone use. Where are you most likely to be in a crash? hotspots include 16th Avenue and Nob Hill, First Street and Nob Hill and First Street and Mead. Only three of last years accidents were fatal, but police say that's three too many, especially when those accidents could have been prevented by paying attention to the road.
