Selah Teacher Terminated In Ongoing Voyer Investigation
SELAH -- An email sent out by the Selah School Superintendent Friday morning to Selah Jr. High School parents, discloses the termination of a science teacher. The notice comes after a teacher at the school was placed on paid leave earlier this month in connection with a voyeurism investigation. It is unclear at this point whether the teacher named in the email is the teacher under investigation.
The email reads as follows:
"At their meeting last night the Selah School Board approved a settlement agreement with ninth grade science teacher Dave McMillen that provides for his termination of employment by the school district. A temporary substitute teacher has been in that classroom for the past two weeks. Beginning Monday, October 31 a science endorsed teacher will begin teaching the class for the remainder of the school year. If you have any questions please contact Superintendent Steve Chestnut at 697-0706, or stevechestnut@selah.k12.wa.us"
On October 19, the Selah School District placed a teacher on paid administrative leave after a hidden camera was discovered under a student's desk in his classroom.
Police told KIMA they were investigating a voyeurism case and had obtained a search warrant to search the teacher's Selah home, but would not disclose a name since charges had not been filed.
Several electronics devices were taken from the teacher's home and have been handed over to the Yakima Police Department to be analyzed.
