Washington State Department of Transportation officials say SR 410 Chinook Pass and SR 123 Cayuse Pass through Mt. Rainier National Park will remain closed on Monday after a big mud slide closed the road on Saturday. Crews continue to evaluate the conditions Monday and say they'll provide another update on Tuesday.

A news release from the DOT says Saturday Chinook Pass closed between Crystal Mountain Blvd - about 12 miles northwest of the summit - and Morse Creek - five miles east of the summit.

A big mudslide covered the road and closed SR-410 Chinook Pass Saturday and Sunday. The slide happened Saturday and filled the road with mud and debris. Westbound traffic is closed at Morse Creek 4 miles east of the summit, and eastbound is closed 4 miles east of the junction 123 and SR 410.

According to the Department of Transportation SR-123 remains open to SR-410.
DOT officials are expected to provide and update on the road Monday. They say conditions and forecast will be re-evaluated and an update available Monday morning by 10:00 a.m.
