Salvation Army Hoping for Sponsors for Project 500
The Yakima Salvation Army is looking for sponsors for what's called the Salvation Army Kids Shopping/Project 500. It's a program that helps needy families. Lisa Sargent is the program and events Director who says they work with area school counselors from 20 local schools to find 500 needy students and then they match those students up with a sponsor from the community.
It could be an individual, a company or anyone who's willing to help. Each child is allowed to spend $75 to purchase clothes, shoes, hats and gloves at Old Navy.
Unfortunately because of the pandemic the kids won't be able to go shopping with sponsors this year.
But sponsors will be shopping on November 19 and November 21. If you'd like to be involved and go shopping or would like to sponsor a child call the Salvation Army at 823-1813.
