Old Town Road will be closed West of Main Street on Tuesday, May 31 during paving operations until 4 p.m.

Main Street will be closed from Old Town Road to E. Chestnut Street in Union Gap for two consecutive nights while crews finish paving. The work will be done during nighttime hours to minimize the impacts to traffic.

Detour signs will guide drivers around the work zone from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 2, to about 6 a.m. Friday, June 3, and again from 9 p.m. Friday, June 3, to about 6 a.m. Saturday, June 4. Southbound S. First Street traffic will be detoured onto W. Washington Avenue and Long Fiber Road. Northbound Main Street traffic will be detoured onto South Rudkin Road, Valley Mall Boulevard and N. Rudkin Road during paving.

Interstate 82: Tuesday, May 31 through Friday, June 3 there will be intermittent single lane closures in the westbound direction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All of the businesses along the project are open. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and Apollo Inc. are working hard to maintain access to those businesses while doing what is necessary to stay on schedule and on budget for this $34.3 million project

The future long-term project benefits of reducing collisions and improving traffic flow through intersections, and to and from Interstate 82 will seem well worth the current short-term inconveniences to drivers and businesses. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid September, 2011.
