it's been a long weekend for thousands of people in Japan trying to recover from last weeks deadly earthquake and tsunami. And while the world has been focusing on the nuclear threat, Red Cross volunteers are working throughout the country of japan while others are on standby here in the states. Lisa Rhinehart is the Director of the Red Cross office in Yakima who says you can help by donating at redcross.org or by texting the word redcross to the number 90999 where you'll make an automatic 10 dollar donation.

Meanwhile...Washington and Oregon health officials say the situation in Japan is not a radiation risk to us...at least not at this point. Both states are monitoring radiation levels. In a press release officials from the Department's of Health in both states say they're monitoring the air, but there have been no elevated readings. A public health risk is not expected.
