**Proposition 12, the California law that prohibits the sale of whole pork in the state that comes from the pigs raised in gestation crates, is now in place.

After delays from court challenges and the need to wait for a Supreme Court ruling, Prop 12 became law January 1.

The state has registered more than 1,250 producers and distributors to sell Prop 12-compliant pork.

**USDA’s Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis Taylor will lead an agribusiness trade mission to India in April and USDA is now accepting applications from U.S. exporters who wish to join the delegation.

Taylor says there is no larger untapped market in the world for U.S. agriculture than India and its 1.4 billion consumers.

The deadline to apply for the trade mission is January 22.

**For the second straight week, the nation’s average gas price declined, falling 3.8 cents from a week ago to $3.03 per gallon.

GasBuddy’s Patrick DeHaan says sluggish gas demand has led to the national average easing again and has the potential to drift under $3 per gallon for the first time since 2021.

However, the better it gets now, the sharper the rise could be ahead of spring.
