The popular hiking area called Boulder Cave is usually open at this time of year but not this year. Officials from the Naches Ranger District say they're concerned about the spread of the deadly White Nose Syndrome that's killed millions of bats around the country. Thousands of bats live inside the cave on Chinook Pass. They've decided to open the cave on April 30th and close it on October 1st. Meanwhile the ranger district still hasn't announced a decision on a temporary closure of all trails in the district later this spring to prevent spring runoff damage a to repair trails that were damaged last year.
