REAL WORLD, HANDS ON LEARNING
According to a press release, the two-story structure will be situated on a spacious green area along Washington Avenue, providing an area for state-of-the-art labs and learning spaces designed to mimic real-world environments.
The facility will feature seven laboratories, including areas modeled after actual homes and businesses, giving students hands-on experience in practical settings. Additionally, the building will include a six-car garage.
STILL HOPING FOR MORE FUNDING
Funding for the project has seen progress, with the school securing approximately $10 million from the state. However, additional funds are still needed to reach the total goal of $21 million. The expansion is seen as a vital step in addressing the long waiting list for Perry’s electrical program, which continues to grow as more students seek to enter this in-demand trade. The new center promises to boost the institute’s mission to provide cutting-edge training and meet the changing needs of the local economy, making sure Yakima remains in the lead of electrical and technical education.
