The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is having to get clever with vandals that are stealing milepost markers with the numbers 69 and 420. They are replacing them around the state by subtracting a tenth of a mile, ergo 69 becomes 68.9, 420 is now 419.9.

Besides those two numbers, "popular football numbers" (12 anyone?) and class years often get swiped.

While it's a lark, it ultimately comes at taxpayer cost.
