Time to really start yelling at your kids to turn lights off!

Pacific Power is raising your electric bill by about 12 percent starting Sunday, April 3rd.

For the average customer that adds up to about $12 more a month. The state approved Pacific Power's request for the raise last week. The company said it had to raise rates because of higher power costs.

The new hike will raise rates by about $38 million a year, that's two-thirds the amount they originally wanted. The state said, no to the proposal to raise the monthly service charge from $6 to $9 regardless of usage.
