CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Police in Oregon say a woman confronted an officer with a realistic-looking toy gun and challenged him to shoot her.
Corvallis police say the 21-year-old woman stole the toy and circled the police department on Tuesday evening.
Police say she approached an officer sitting in a patrol car and kicked the front bumper while holding what looked like a revolver.
Investigators say the officer pointed his weapon at her and told her to get on the ground, but she refused to drop the gun and told him to shoot her.
She dropped the fake weapon after multiple officers confronted her.
Corvallis police say the woman hoped an officer would shoot her after reading about similar situations online. She was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
