The numbers keep increasing in a major effort to fight violent crime called Operation Invictus in Yakima this summer. According to the Yakima Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service authorities have now made 139 arrests up from 100 arrests last month. 72 of the arrests are gang related. They've seized 15 firearms, $9, 074 in cash, 3.75 pounds of drugs, 1 ballistic vest and 7 cars.
The goal of Operation Invictus, which is an element of Project Safe Neighborhoods and the Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, is simple - make communities safer. Local, state and federal officers have joined forces for the operation.
