Suspicious Fire at Affordable Tire Center, More Briefs
The cause at Affordable Tire Center is under investigation. Fire investigators say it started in a pile of tires and spread to the front of the building.
Investigators are calling the fire suspicious.
Crews put the flames out quickly, but said it was a very dangerous situation because when tires are on fire, the produce toxic fume, black smoke and a lot more heat and flames than a regular structure fire.
When the suspect returned with the gun and started waiving it in the air he was shot three times by the man that he had threatened.
The suspect underwent surgery at a local hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
Both men had valid concealed pistol permits. No arrests were made.
The investigation continues today.
Washington State Patrol troopers say it happened at about 6:15 a.m., when 25-year-old Anthony Godina of Toppenish was driving south in the 1300 block of Meyers Road near Toppenish city limits. Troopers say he lost control of the vehicle and flipped the car, landing upside down in a nearby canal.
Godina and 24-year-old Jose Godina died at the scene of the crash. Another passenger, 26-year-old Anthony Goudy of Toppenish, was injured and was being treated at a Yakima hospital.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
