
Yakima Resident and Veteran Prosecutor Declares Run for County Prosecutor
Tyler Haueter wants to be the next Yakima County Prosecutor. The Yakima resident and assistant city attorney for Kennewick has declared his candidacy for the office. In March Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic decided he's not running for re-election.
20-YEARS OF EXPERIENCE INCLUDING IN YAKIMA
Haueter is a Republican with some 20-years of experience in law including serving as a prosecutor in the Yakima County’s Special Assault Unit. In a press release Haueter says
"Yakima County deserves a prosecutor focused on public safety, accountability, and results." He says he's handled some of the toughest cases in the justice system and that he's running "I’m running to ensure justice is delivered consistently and victims are protected.”
MILITARY SERVICE IN HIS BACKGROUND
Haueter’s legal career includes military service, defense work, and prosecution. The press release says he served as a paralegal in the U.S. Air Force, managing legal operations and preparing hundreds of cases, earning the Paralegal of the Year award for the Pacific Region.
A YAKIMA COUNTY PROSECUTOR
After his military service, Haueter worked as an investigator in Yakima County, handling felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases, before earning his law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law. As a prosecutor in Yakima County’s Special Assault Unit, he prosecuted serious cases such as domestic violence, child molestation, and homicide, resulting in multiple felony convictions and long prison sentences.
LIVES IN YAKIMA WORKS IN KENNEWICK
He now serves as an Assistant City Attorney in Kennewick. Haueter, his wife Alexis, and their seven children have called Yakima County home for the past eight years.
“This isn’t about a title,” Haueter said. “It’s about protecting families, standing up for victims, and making Yakima County safer.”
His campaign will focus on strengthening prosecution of violent crime, supporting law enforcement, and restoring public confidence in the justice system.
