National Night Out Planning Underway In Sunnyside

On August 2, 2011 the Sunnyside Police Department will be coordinating block parties throughout Sunnyside for our annual National Night Out celebration. We are going to be working very hard to try and establish block watch groups out of the block parties that we are facilitating. If you are interested in throwing a block party on August 2, 2011 in the City of Sunnyside there will be an informational meeting at the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center on July 12th at 5:00pm. The Sunnyside Police Department hopes to assist over 20 neighborhoods in throwing their own block parties in 2011 and continuing our long standing relationship and participation in the National Night Out against crime.

The Sunnyside Police Department’s mission in associating ourselves with the National Association of Town Watch is to accomplish four broad goals: 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) Generate support for and participation in, local anticrime programs; 3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; 4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
