Meet Storie, an adorable and happy young child who lives here in the Yakima Valley!

Storie's "story" with the Children's Miracle Network began when she was around 18 weeks old.

Her mother had a high-risk pregnancy, but thanks to the amazing team at Yakima Memorial Hospital's Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic, Storie's diagnosis with Downs Syndrome was handled with precision and the utmost care.

Some of the resources that Storie's family were able to use included support from the Parent-to-Parent Program at Children's Village. This program is funded by the Memorial Foundation, which has helped thousands of families get the support and resources they need to assist in getting life-saving medical care, specialist therapies, and in some cases, transportation to such specialists when out of the Yakima Valley area.

SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE MATERNAL-FETAL MEDICINE CLINIC

When a mom-to-be has a high-risk pregnancy, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic can use extra special ultrasound machines to check on the health of the fetus. Not only will they check on the health of the baby, they will provide the mom with any additional information and/or resources to make sure the pregnancy is safe for her and the baby.

High-risk pregnancies helped by Children's Village often involve:

Complicated pregnancies

Chronic health conditions

Unexpected medical issues

SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE PARENT-TO-PARENT PROGRAM

Families with high-risk pregnancies can benefit from this program by using parent trainings, emotional support care, library, SibShops and Teen SibShops (for the other kids in the family), and fun family-friendly activities and socials each month (and each quarter).

For more information on how families can receive help, visit the Memorial Foundation website.

"Now, Storie is living her best life, munching on hummus, diving into books, brushing her pearly whites like a champ, and being her mom's little cleaning sidekick in the kitchen and around the house!" - Memorial Foundation
