If you were at the Downtown Yakima Farmers Market on Sunday and you didn't have cash that was OK you can now buy what's called Market Bucks. Market Manager Yvette Lippert says a lot of people don't carry cash and not all the vendors take credit cards so they worked with Banner Bank to create Market Bucks. "We're trying to make it more convenient so people don't have to walk to a bank or inquire fees."
The Market Bucks are available at the market information booth.
Another new feature at the market is the arrival of alcohol. The market will soon welcome breweries and microbreweries and distilleries a chance to offer tastings and products for sale. But Lippert says don't expect a beer garden. The products for sale will be for off site consumption.
