Man With Gun Demands Shoes From Wapato Kids at Bus Stop Monday
Students in Wapato at a bus stop were victims of a armed robbery on Monday. Wapato Police and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office were notified of the armed robbery near the North Wasco Ave and West C St intersection.
FIVE STUDENTS WERE WAITING FOR THE BUS AT THE STOP
Wapato Police say the Officers were told that five students were at the bus stop when a dark blue hatchback-style car pulled near them. A man they got out of the vehicle armed with a handgun and began asking for their items and shoes.
THE BUS ARRIVED JUST IN TIME
At about the same time a Wapato Public School bus approached to pick up the students and that's when the suspect jumped back into the vehicle and fled the area. SPECIAL POLICE PATROLS UNDERWAY
The Wapato Police Department says extra patrols will be conducted at bus stops within the City of Wapato for the next several days.
