Yakima Police have identified a man shot on Wednesday as 21-year-old Aaron Prieto. He remains in critical condition at a Seattle hospital Today. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says Prieto was in the front yard of his home on North Second Street when a suspect vehicle pulled in front of his house. The suspects exited the vehicle and words were exchanged. "They then pulled out a gun and he started running. "
Bastinelli says Prieto ran towards the back yard and was struck in the head by a bullet. The suspects then left the scene. Authorities spotted the suspect vehicle and a high speed chase followed. The car stopped in the lower valley where the suspects fled but one 18-year-old man was taken into custody. He's being held in the Yakima county jail today on a first degree assault charge. Bastinelli says police believe all involved, including the victim were members of local gangs.
