Man Shot Dead By Wapato Police During Domestic Incident

An officer-involved shooting in Wapato is under investigation today.

Wapato police offered few details, but said that the incident began when Wapato officers responded at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday to a report of domestic violence at a home in the 400 block of West Second in Wapato. When officers arrived they confronted and then shot a man who died at the scene.

One officer was treated for injuries at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Both officers involved will be on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

The investigation will be conducted by the Yakima Police Department and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.

No other details have been released.
