24 year old man remains at a local hospital today after being shot by a Yakima Police officer at the 40th and Summitview Bank of America branch late Monday afternoon. Chief Greg Copeland says bank officials called police at about 5:30 p.m. to deal with a man described as intoxicated and belligerent in the lobby. The first officer to arrive reported the man had a gun and was pulling it out when the officer fired. The man remains in the intensive care unit at a Yakima hospital. He has not been identified. Reports say he was shot twice by the officer. The officer remains on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
