Sentencing is set for October 18 for a 25-year-old man who was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder of 21-year-old Oscar Gutierrez of Sunnyside in 2015.
Yakima County Prosecutor Joeseph Brusic says Raymundo Casares was also found guilty of two counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting on South Sixth Street in Sunnyside. He says the victim was in a car with his brother Jorge Gutierrez when Casares walked up to the car and fired a gun.
Gutierrez died but Jorge Gutierrez was seriously injured and remains paralyzed.
A jury found Casares guilty in Yakima County Superior Court on Tuesday.
