A rural burglary turned into a dramatic pursuit Monday after a Yakima County man caught two intruders in his rural home and captured one by himself.

The man held the suspect at gunpoint until authorities arrived at his Naches-area home.

Yakima County sheriff's deputies reported the man went to his neighbor's home and called 9-1-1 after he discovered the intruders inside his house in the 400 block of Alan Road.

But when he saw the intruders leaving his house, he decided to give chase. He caught one of them and held him at gunpoint until a deputy arrived.

The second suspect fled through an orchard, but a passerby who saw him directed deputies to a residential neighborhood in Naches, where the suspect was hiding in some brush in the backyard of a residence on the 300 block of Moxee Avenue.

The second suspect was arrested by the deputies and a Tieton police officer. He was in possession of some of the items taken in the burglary.

Both suspects were booked into the Yakima County jail on residential burglary charges.
