Having a positive body image is important to emotional health and self confidence. Millions of kids struggle with it as they grow from teens to young adults.

Concerned parents search for ways to help and new research shows perhaps that search should lead to the breakfast table.

It turns out helping your teen could be as simple as sitting down for bacon and eggs with them. University of Missouri researchers found that consistently eating breakfast as a family may promote positive body image for children and adolescents.

EurekAlert reports on researcher Virginia Winter saying, "Children and adolescents are under a lot of pressure from social media and pop culture when it comes to physical appearance. Having a healthy relationship with food from eating breakfast and spending meal time with family might have a significant impact on well-being."
