Macias Wins Yakima City Council District 1 Race

The counting won't officially be over until November 26 but Eliana Macias is the winner in the Yakima City Council District 1 race after all the ballots in the race were counted on Wednesday.
Macias beat Kenton Gartrell with a 26 vote lead Wednesday afternoon.
The difference in the race isn't enough to trigger an automatic recount.
Either one of the candidates could request a recount but they would have to fund the action.
Gartrell tells the Yakima Herald Republic he may consider running for office again in the future. He says he believes Macias ran a positive campaign.
