Eliana Macias is now in the lead for the Yakima City Council District 1 seat after Tuesday's ballot count. Macias is now leading Kenton Gartrell by 11 votes, 354 to 343. After Friday's count Gartrell lead the race by 4 votes.
Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says 18 ballots are left to count but 17 of the ballots are termed "challenged" ballots meaning ballot envelopes weren't signed or signatures don't match voting records on file.
All the counting will be over when the election is certified on November 26.
Ross says the difference in the race isn't enough to call for a recount but he says either candidate could request and pay for a recount after the election is certified.
